Alpha 8, with multiplayer review
September 14ᵗʰ, 2022

Multiplayer games have started! You may find a few games on the official lobby from the game from time to time.

This new version fixed a few broken things and reworked larger turrets and body stats.

Gameplay changes

Artillery rework

Mortars and howitzer were changed, with the most noticeable change being their range. Both have now shorter range, even more for mortars.

Basically mortars are now more skirmish support units, while howitzers keep a long range sniping trait.

This prevents the game to lock on the late game when artillery range made skirmish weapons kind of outdated. There are now more opportunities on ground than having more artillery units and a counter-battery turret. Weapon tiers rework

Tier 2 and 3 were rather plain. Each weapon class trait is amplified with each tiers, making their strengths and weaknesses more remarkable. While lower tier turrets stays more all-rounder.

For example machineguns gets a rate of fire upgrade, but the raw damage doesn't increase that much. That makes them even stronger against massed cheap units, but weaker against a few heavily armoured ones. On the contrary, missiles gets a huge damage upgrade, but a lower rate of fire.

New Nexus bodies

Nexus were just an overally better body, that had no clear use instead of Collective ones. They are now completely different, with lesser HP but a very strong armour. This makes them almost invulnerable from half of the weapons, while still leaving them weaks against armour piercing weapons.

Balance changes and fixes

AA upgrade

With VTOL and hover HP being decreased, and AA turret power increased, AA becomes a lot more effective. And intercepting with other VTOLs can destroy them quickly. The Nova (upgraded Sunburst) was planned from the beginning and is now added, even if it lacks a proper asset. Missile rework

The fixed turret on missiles was intended to make them less effective at close combat, but this made them useless against human players that could just turn around and prevent them from firing at all.

Missiles keep their burst damage trait, but now have a rotatable turret like other skirmish weapons. They still cannot fire while moving, so hit'n running stays tricky.

HP review

Bodies provide a little less HP that was distributed to some weapons, to increase differences between them.

Structures have more HP and the weapon modifiers were updated a little accordingly.
